Anybody run Tula ammo thru an xd 9mm? Any problems wit steel casing ftf fte or failure to ramp?
It's actually a lead core bullet, but with a steel/copper (bimetal jacket). The usual culprits will also have a steel case instead of brass. So basically if the ammo is listed as"Steel cased" dont buy it. Your range wont let you shoot it. Just a few off the Russian brands off the top of my head: Wolf (non gold line) Tula Barnual Silver Bear Brown Bear Bvac should be fine, as it is US made ...
It should be awesome general use ammo..Wouldn't expect it to be match grade but it should be great all around ammo. There is no such thing a "wolf" ammo. Its just a name an importer put on Tula made ammo from Russia. Herters is just Tula ammo. I have also seen alot of Tula ammo being sold in boxes simply marked Tula ammo lately....
Shot 100 rounds of Blazer 115gr, 100 rounds of Tula 115gr brass, 50 rounds of HST 124gr JHP, 40 rounds of PDX1 147gr JHP and 20 rounds of PDX1 124 +p JHP. Love the ergo's, great trigger, okay sights, light on the recoil and no issues with any rounds shot today.
Almost like the cases are bowed out. I haven't shot or carried anything from either box yet and I'm not gonna shoot the dented ones. Anyone ever run into something like this? They're not steel cases Tula or range fodder. These things aren't exactly cheap.
You asked about cheaper ammo - I bought some 180 grain Tula ammo a while back to give them a try in my XDm 40 4.5", mostly because they were heavier, I was curious to see what they would do, I'd read mixed reviews of them, and best of all they were about $4 per 100 cheaper than the 165 grn FMJFN WWB at my local Walmart.
