Has anyone out there decided to continue with Dutasteride of Finasteride after a TURP to slow re-growth and reduce the chances of needing a further operation? It seems like a good idea to me. My urology consultant said I could do that if I wanted to, but on balance he thought he wouldn't advise it.
I had a TURP 3 weeks ago (the second after a ‘mini’ TURP 2 years previously). Unfortunately flow and frequency are currently worse than pre-op; in fact after I was discharged I went into complete retention 3 hours later and had to rush back to have a catheter re-inserted for 5 days. Do you think things will improve from here or is this latest TURP the failure it appears to be?
