The United States Mint is pleased to announce the official designs for the first five coins in the American Women Quarters Program.
The 50 State Quarters Program was the most successful coin initiative in U.S. history. During the program's 10-year run, the United States Mint shipped 19.4 billion more quarters to the Federal Reserve Banks than in the prior 10-year period (34.2 billion for Fiscal Years 1999 through 2008 vs. 14.8 billion for Fiscal Years 1989 through 1998).
