NVQs are practical, work-based qualifications that assess your ability to do a job to a national standard. There are eight NVQ levels (plus entry level), ranging from basic tasks at Level 1 to expert-level work at Level 7 and doctoral-equivalent at Level 8.
There are a total of eight levels, starting at level 1 (which focuses on fundamental workplace skills) and ending at level 8 (when students were expected to be working at the management level). To earn an NVQ you had to be evaluated based on portfolios and observational sessions with an assessor.
