The Kaaba continued to be a site of annual pilgrimage, [28] and Muslims would perform the Salat prayer facing Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, as instructed by Muhammad, and turning their backs on the pagan associations of the Kabah.
The Kabah is the holiest site in Islam, and it is the qiblah, the direction Muslims face when praying. It is called the Ka’bah because of its shape; cube in the Arabic language is ka’b.
Baytul Mamoor – the Kabah in the heavens Directly above the Ka’bah, at its zenith, there is a corresponding place in the heavens called the Baytul Ma’moor which holds the same status there as the Ka’bah does here on earth.
