National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Health and Health Care. CLAS is a way to improve the quality of services provided to all individuals, which could ultimately help reduce health disparities.
Our initiative develops and implements the national CLAS Standards within the Department of Public Health's (DPH) programs, as well as agencies who receive direct service grants from DPH.
Culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) are respectful of and responsive to the health beliefs, practices and needs of diverse patients. AHRQ has tools, training, and reports to help health systems deliver CLAS so that all patients receive high quality care and achieve good health outcomes.
