Through WEAC, educators join together to provide the best resources for students, support each other and keep public schools strong.
WEAC began as a statewide educational organization of teachers and administrators in 1853. After passage of a collective bargaining law for public employees, it evolved into a pro-active teachers union and in 1972 changed its name to the Wisconsin Education Association Council.
WEAC is made up of seven geographic regions, six urban affiliates: Eau Claire, Green Bay, Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee and Madison. There are also two statewide regions, WEAC-Retired and Aspiring Educators of Wisconsin.
