In this study, we investigated whether Microsoft Kinect V2 ®, which is a low-cost, portable and peripheral device of Xbox ®, evaluates kinematic and spatiotemporal parameters and can be used for human gait analysis in healthy individuals.
During the experimental stage, six iterations were performed using the a dual Kinect V2 system. The walking tests were developed at a self-selected speed. The sensor accuracy for Euclidean matching was consistent with that reported in previous studies.
Fusing multiple sensors’ data for clinical gait analysis using calibrated instruments helps in producing more accurate results. A novel technique for spatial calibration is proposed and implemented in this paper.
Data analysis was performed by pooling together the data collected from both experimental groups (stroke and healthy subjects), and then performed separately in order to highlight any differences in performance and accuracy when measuring healthy and pathological gait, respectively.
In this paper, a new method for human gait analysis based on the Kinect Sensor is introduced. Such method based on Kinect sensor can be divided into three steps: data acquisition, pre-processing and gait parameter calculation.
As part of an investigation to detect asymmetries in gait patterns in persons with shoulder injuries, the goal of the present study was to design and validate a Kinect-based motion capture system that would enable the extraction of joint kinematics curves during gait and to compare them with the data obtained through a commercial motion capture system. The study included eight male and two female participants, all diagnosed with anterolateral shoulder pain syndrome in their right upper ...
