But a parameter accepts an argument, so it is an argument that is accepted, not a parameter. And if anything, an argument is given in a call to a parameter (or at least, some function with a parameter), so it is more the parameter that is called than the argument.
The only data type you can submit on the command line is a string, there's no way you can construct a SecureString instance outside of .NET and pass it as an argument when launching powershell.exe. You'll have to refactor the parameter block to take a path to a file that contains the credentials (you can construct such a file with Get-Credential 'dummyUserName' |Export-CliXml path\to\output.xml)

A high parameter count usually tells me that my component needs to be split into multiple components. On simple components (which I believe all components should be), the performance gain from using SetParametersAsync is not worth the time to code.
