Mycostatin Topical (for the skin) is used to treat skin infections caused by yeast. Mycostatin Topical is not for use to treat a vaginal yeast infection. Mycostatin Topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Mycostatin (nystatin) suspension is an antifungal liquid medication used to treat fungal infections of the mouth (like oral thrush). Common side effects of Mycostatin include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rash, skin irritation, and allergic reactions.
You might notice improvements within a couple of days, but you might have to keep using Mycostatin for 1 to 2 weeks before your infection goes away. Make sure to keep taking Mycostatin for at least 2 more days after all signs of thrush are gone. This will help prevent the infection from coming back.
