The M Phase represents the phase when the actual cell division or mitosis occurs and the interphase represents the phase between two successive M phases. It is significant to note that in the 24 hour average duration of cell cycle of a human cell, cell division proper lasts for only about an hour. The interphase lasts more than 95% of the duration of cell cycle.

कोशिका चक्र की दो मूल प्रावस्थाएं होती हैंः 1. अंतरावस्था (Interphase) 2. एम प्रावस्था (सूत्री विभाजन) (Mitosis Phase)
During embryogenesis, zygote undergoes cell division (mitosis) and cell differentiation. While cell divisions increase the number of cells in the developing embryo; cell differentiation helps groups of cells to undergo certain modifications to form specialised tissues and organs to form an organism.
2 Draw a labelled diagram to show the metaphase stage of mitosis in an animal cell having '6' chromosomes.
There are two main types of cell division: mitosis and meiosis. The process of cell division by which most of the cells divide for growth is called mitosis. In this process, each cell called mother cell divides to form two identical daughter cells (Fig. 5.7). The daughter cells have the same number of chromosomes as mother cell.
