In February 2004, the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) School Board unanimously approved the charter, and the Language Academy of Sacramento (LAS) became a directly funded independent public charter school.

The ELP at the Language Academy of Sacramento offers a range of high-quality after-school and summer programs aimed at enhancing student learning, fostering creativity, and promoting social and emotional development. Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

This population is historically under-served in all academic and enrichment areas. However, students at the Language Academy of Sacramento possess language, leadership and cultural skills that uniquely prepare them to not only graduate from high school ready to enter college, but also to enter a competitive workforce in need of bilingual leaders.

The Language Academy of Sacramento fosters a strong sense of responsibility in students to help each other and to contribute to the community. Students analyze, question and are encouraged to develop leadership skills useful in the classroom, school and the community around them.
