Imola (Italian: [ˈiːmola]; Romagnol: Jômla or Jemula) is a city and comune in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, located on the river Santerno, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. The city is traditionally considered the western entrance to the historical region Romagna.
We were in Imola on the occasion of the Open Day on December 26. We could walk the little less than 5 km of the track loop. Strolling on the same roads that F1 drivers whizz along at high speed was a magical experience.

Imola lies along the Santerno River, southeast of Bologna. Its Forum Cornelii was a station on the Roman road Via Aemilia. The town was devastated in the 6th century by the Byzantine emperor Justinian I but was rebuilt and fortified by the Lombards.
