The serial number on my S&W Model 639 is A8305XX. I purchased this pistol used in 2014. I paid a premium for it, over $1,000. Does anyone have one of these too? What would the shipping date be on it and how many were manufactured with these features?
The SCSW says 1984-1988. I have never owned a 639 however I do own a 439 (nickel) and have previously owned a 39-2 and a 3953. The Model 439, 539, and 639 (second generation) came along in 1979. The difference in the models was that the 439 was Aluminum frame while the 539 had a steel frame and the 639 was stainless steel.
