The FR7, on the other hand, was a converted Model 1893/1916, originally made for the 7x57; I don't recommend using it with full power 7.62 NATO or .308 Winchester.
I have a couple problems, though. First, I can't seem to find any scope mounts that will work for the FR7. B-Square makes a scope for the Mauser 93 action, which is the action of the FR7, but it is designed to be attached to the front sight (just like it is on the KAR 98k, Swedish small ring 96 Mauser and Guardia Civil Spanish Mauser).
If it's a 1916 chambered in 7.62 NATO, it's most likely a Civil Guard rifle or a FR7. Of course it could be one that someone converted. Regardless it's base on the small ring 1895 Mauser. The bolt cocks on opening, making it a lot smoother than the 1898 versions. Unlike the 1898, the 1895 lacks a 3rd locking lug. Like mentioned above, it's not a good idea to shoot 308 through them.
