I am trying to Sysprep a Windows 11 Enterprise 24H2 installation with many installed applications. My attempt always fails because of this error: SYSPRP Package Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_1.25.199.
Sysprep allows admins to dynamically generate unique SIDs as part of the sysprep deployment, which is something a simple disk-imaging tool cannot do. If you have more than 2 computers that need to be prepped for a Windows Active Directory domain (or possibly workgroup), sysprep is the way to go.

When creating images the correct way, part of what Sysprep does is generate the new SID for each system built from that image. It says I need a Linux workstation to mount the VMFS (containing the VMDK file) with SSHFS and then run the virt-sysprep onto the VMDK file of the previously shutdown VM. On a windows VM, I remember the sysprep operation was done from inside the VM before shutting it down. Is there a method to "sysprep" a Linux VM from inside the VM ?
