I am reading everyday about replacing stringers, Floor is the last to rot, and drill into the transom to see if it's wet or rotted. just wondering whats under this floor, Anyone done these repairs on a Sunbird Odyssey deck boat?

Sunbird was a low end entry boat and the OMC outdrive they used was not exactly the best choice for reliability and parts availability. On the good side You said 6 cly was rebuilt so it sounds like you have a 4.3 L rebuilt to a stroker, depending on what was done and what parts were used for the rebuild that could go either way.

Re: Restoring a sunbird? If you plan to keep the boat for your personal use, then you need to make sure it is safe and reliable. If you plan to "flip it" and make some money, then do the needed cosmetic work and let the buyer beware. It's the old "lipstick on a pig" thing! The experts on this forum can give you plenty of good advice once you have chosen a direction.
