Rey is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. She was created by Lawrence Kasdan, J. J. Abrams, and Michael Arndt for The Force Awakens (2015), the first installment of the sequel film trilogy, and is primarily portrayed by Daisy Ridley.
Rey Skywalker, also known simply as Rey, was a Jedi member of the Resistance during the war against the First Order. The human woman was a scavenger on the planet Jakku, but her life was changed by tumultuous events in the last days of the New Republic Era.
Seemingly abandoned by her parents on Jakku, Rey grew up a scavenger amid the wreckage of war. Her life changed when she agreed to help a droid on an urgent mission for the Resistance. Rey discovered she was powerful in the Force, and sought out the vanished Jedi Master Luke Skywalker to train her.
Rey, later self-proclaimed Rey Skywalker, is the protagonist of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. A lone scavenger abandoned as a child on the desert planet Jakku, she gets tangled in the war between the Resistance and the First Order after deciding to help the droid BB-8.
Rey is a scavenger who was left behind (for protection) on the planet Jakku when she was a child, and soon becomes involved with the Resistance's conflict with the First Order after meeting Finn, a former Stormtrooper, and BB-8, the droid of ace Resistance pilot Poe Dameron.
Rey traveled the Jakku wastes on a speeder she built out of scrap – a remarkable feat that reflected her genius for improvisation and survival. Though stranded on a forlorn frontier world, Rey made herself into a highly skilled mechanic, pilot, and warrior.
